Ray Project

The Ray project was started by a man named 'Ray' in St. Louis. The aim on the song was to cheer his daughter up after a hard days work. He never intended it to be a big internet hit but after it wass emailed to a few people it became massive and has been remixed.

"Hi, my name is Ray, and on yesterday my daughter called me, ah, because she was stressed out because of, ah, things that were going on on her job that she felt were quite unfair. So I was lead to write this song, just for her."

This video shows us that the internet can be a pathway to creating any type of media/entertainment and sharing it with the world.

  • How we open user generated content up for business
  • We would lose out creativity via machines
  • Read write vs read only
  • Second best/ public domains can best major businesses
  • Celebrating amateur culture- for the love not the money
  • Re creating using other peoples content- say things different
  • Internet = democratized
  • How we speak, think and are
  • The revolt
    • Builds new technologies- take down content
    • Rejection of copyright
      • Ignorance of laws
  • Solution
    • Competition can achieve balance
    • Artists and creators embrace the idea of amateur use
    • Businesses embrace and enable
